NCDOT To Host an Informational Workshop on Proposed Improvements to I-40

Published Nov 6, 2008

The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) will hold a Citizens Informational Workshop on Thursday, November 20, 2008 between the hours of 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. at the Ramada Inn - Ballroom, located at 1520 Blue Ridge Road, Raleigh, NC 27607.

The purpose of this workshop is for NCDOT representatives to provide information, answer questions, and accept written comments regarding this project. Interested individuals may attend this workshop at anytime during the above stated hours.  Please note: there will be no formal presentation.

The proposed improvements consist of widening I-40 within the existing median between Wade Avenue (Milepost 289) and I-440/US 1-64 (Milepost 293). The improvements also include an additional auxiliary lane on eastbound I-40 between Harrison Avenue (Milepost 287) and Wade Avenue. The purpose of this project is to improve mobility in the I-40 corridor by providing additional capacity in a portion of I-40 where existing traffic volumes exceed the current capacity of the existing roadway.

Anyone desiring additional information may contact Ms. Leza Wright Mundt, Project Development and Environmental Analysis Branch at 1548 Mail Service Center, Raleigh, NC 27699-1548, phone (919) 733-7844 ext. 244, fax (919) 733-9794 or email:lwmundt@ncdot.gov

NCDOT will provide auxiliary aids and services under the Americans with Disabilities Act for disabled persons who wish to participate in this workshop. Anyone requiring special services should contact Ms. Mundt as early as possible so that arrangements can be made.
